Donald C. Staven

Donald C. Staven, 91, of Janesville passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital on Saturday, October 9, 2010 shortly after being admitted following a stroke.

Donald was born in Janesville on October 28, 1918, the son of Knute and Maren Hanson Staven. He attended Janesville schools. Donald served with the 32nd Division from 1941 to 1945 and was stationed in Australia and New Guinea. He married Eunice Kumlien on May 17, 1947. He was employed by Jaeger Baking Co. for 28 years. Donald was a member of First Lutheran Church, Teamster Local # 579 and Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621.

Donald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eunice Staven, one daughter, Lynn (Lynn) Harvey of Rochester Hills, MI, five grandchildren, Jon (Heather) Harvey, Aaron (Gayle) Harvey, Lisa (Max) Kort all of Troy, MI, Ryan Staven of Madison, WI, Hillary (Gene) Townsend of Mesa, Arizona, three great-grandchildren, Madison, Mitchell and Macy Kort of Troy, MI. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one son, Randy Staven, one granddaughter, Andrea Sue Harvey and three sisters, Mabel Feggested, Agnes Klabunde and Margaret Mc Clure.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Naomi Garber officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service time at the church. Private burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church. Assisting the family is Henke-Clarson Funeral Home. www.henkeclarson.com.
